Mendoza the heart of Argentinian viticulture

The wines for ESPIRITU DE ARGENTINA originate from selected vineyards in the Mendoza region. This area offers the ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality wines, with the vines benefiting from over 300 days of sunshine every year and exceedingly mineral-rich soils. A second influential factor in producing Argentinas exceptional wines is the geographic location. The massive chain of the Andes, which tower up to 23,000 ft. high in the west of Mendoza Province like a protective wall directly behind the vineyards, stops bodies of damp Pacific air from raining on the western edge and gives the region a continental semi-desert climate allowing the vines and grapes to thrive.

High temperature contrasts during the course of the year, as well as between day and night, mean the grapes have good sugar potential and healthy vines. The cool summer nights in particular encourage the formation of aromatic substances in the grapes. Low annual rainfall requires artificial irrigation, although ideally melt water can be used for this purpose. It flows from the Andes through the slopes of the vineyards, supplying further vital nutrients in the process.
