Argentina is the home of rugged gauchos, legendary Argentinean cattle and endless expanses of space. The terrain is ideal for great wines full of character.

Pure Argentina

The geographic heart of Argentina is not only where most of the countrys wine regions are located cattle breeding is also widespread in the La Pampa. The gaucho tradition is closely associated with cattle rearing. High up on horseback, Argentinas cowboys each watch over up to 1,000 head of cattle that spend their whole lives wandering the vast expanses of space here searching for fresh grass. The gauchos pride stems from the countrys history. In the mid-19th century they successfully defended the border with Uruguay, thereby gaining a reputation as a formidable unit. Their tradition is still respected to this day as they represent an important part of Argentinas history and identity.

Steak Anyone?

Argentinean beef is regarded as the best in the world. It is a staple of most Argentinean meals and is often barbecued at an asado.  Asado is a technique for cooking cuts of meat, usually consisting of beef alongside various other meats, which are cooked on a grill (parrilla) or open fire. Traditional side dishes include salad, white bread and wine.

As much significance is placed on the wine as the beef: after all, Argentina has one of the highest per capita consumption of wine in the world. A good glass of wine is an element of virtually every lunch and dinner. Red wine, such as Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, are preferred for their full body and robust structure.  The dynamic relationship between grape varieties, climate, soil and passionate people produces incomparable wines; making Argentina a worthwhile destination for wine lovers from around the globe!
